Buying Refurbished: Is Refurbished Tech Worth It?
Refurbished (in German: generalüberholt) devices are tested used or returned products that are sold again. They are often much cheaper than new goods.
What refurbished means
A refurbished device has been tested, cleaned and repaired if necessary. Retailers usually describe the condition in grades such as "like new", "very good" or "good".
Warranty
For used goods, a commercial retailer may shorten the statutory warranty to one year if this has been clearly agreed beforehand. Some manufacturers and retailers also offer their own guarantee.
What to look out for
Check the battery condition on smartphones and laptops, what's included (charger, accessories) and whether the seller is a business. Manufacturers' own refurbished programmes often offer the best quality.

FAQ
Is refurbished the same as used?
Almost: refurbished devices are used, but they have been tested and reconditioned.
Is a refurbished smartphone worth it?
Often yes, especially for the previous year's flagship models. Pay attention to battery condition and software update support.
